FLYING PHOENIX QIGONG WORKSHOP: 14-hour Immersive Training with Master Terence Dunn, May 24 to 26 – Zoomable!
Advanced Flying Phoenix Qigong; Introduction to 10,000 Buddhas Meditations
Greetings to all Flying Phoenix Qigong practitioners and friends—and Happy First Quarter of this Year of the Dragon!
On May 24, 25 and 26, I will be conducting a 14-hour immersive workshop in Ehrmei Mountain Flying Phoenix Celestial Healing Qigong that's very suitable for beginners but will be focussed on the intermediate practices of our art.
The seven 2-hour sessions of this workshop are Zoom-able.
Ehrmei Mountain Flying Phoenix Qigong (“Fei Feng San Gung” as styled in the orange characters above) is a rare and extraordinarily powerful medical Qigong system that was created more than 400 years ago by renowned Taoist monk Feng Dao Deh (Cantonese: Feng Do Duk) of Ehrmeishan in Szechuan Province, one of the five sacred Taoist peaks in China.
In this workshop, you will learn this complete Taoist monastic system of hygienics—comprised of standing and seated, stationary and moving meditations that imparts a wide range of salient health benefits with remarkable swiftness: increased respiratory power, improved circulation and metabolism, higher energy levels, improved neuromuscular function in terms of agility, balance and coordination, increased bone strength, boosted immunity, and the allostatic reversal of many signs of aging. All the Flying Phoenix health benefits are tangible, repeatable, verifiable, and manifest with remarkable swiftness—compared to other systems of Qigong and restorative Yoga.
"Flying Phoenix Qigong practice significantly elevates parasympathetic tone. 90 minutes of practice of this Qigong is restorative in real time and over time afterwards."
– Yetsa A. Tuakli-Wosornu, M.D., M.P.H., IOC Dip. Sp. Med. Assistant Clinical Professor, Yale School of Public Health Department of Chronic Disease Epidemiology (December 2019)
You will also experience how Flying Phoenix Qigong fulfills all the five essential criteria that define authentic Qigong, as expounded by the late great Master T.K. Shih in his seminal work, “Qigong Therapy – The Chinese Art of Healing With Energy”(Station Hill, 1994)—and does so in a repeatable, verifiable, and most sublime manner:
Prevents disease
Cures disease
Strengthens the body
Increase intelligence and thus longevity
Develops latent powers
Flying Phoenix Qigong imparts its remarkable health benefits through an elegant yet mysterious and unfathomable yogic mechanism that “brings all the organ functions of the body under the regulation of the subconscious mind”—as explained by Grandmaster Doo Wai, the sixth generation lineage holder of Ehrmei Mtn. Bok Fu Pai Kung Fu. This super-regulating, self-healing process that medical science calls allostasis is somehow brought on by each of the 32 Flying Phoenix Meditations (8 standing and 24 seated exercises)—each of which consists of (A) an easy-to-do breath-control formula followed by (B) a meditation in repose or a serene moving meditation using repetitive natural movements that are done three times slower than typical Tai Chi form practice. The esoteric breathing formula that is unique to each Flying Phoenix meditation ignites a directional flow of the distinctive Flying Phoenix Healing Qi in the body that has a tangible “flavor” and quality; the concomitant Flying Phoenix posture and pre-choreographed natural movements further circulate this Qi through the orbs of the body and activate specific brain centers. When regular practice creates a superabundance and “reserve” of the Flying Phoenix Healing Qi in the body, one discovers its extraordinary healing properties and that it has “an intelligence of its own.” The FP Healing Qi is thus unlike the bio-electrical energy generated by any other form of Yoga. Long term practice develops more refined and precise conscious control over this Flying Phoenix Healing Qi.
The “Flying Phoenix Heavenly Healing Chi Meditation” seen in this video is the capstone exercise that lends its name to this Qigong system. It is a powerful and sophisticated moving meditation that subsumes the practice of the preceding 7 standing meditations of the Flying Phoenix system. Regular practice of this exercise quickly develops a supra-mundane consciousness that permeates every second of one’s experience of life:
The vitalities of heaven and earth, sun and moon, Are fundamentally inherent in our bodies. If reality and consciousness do not stray from each other, Creation is always in the palm of your hand.
—Chang Po-Tuan, 11th Century (“The Inner Teachings of Taoism”, Ch.16)
Unlike other authentic traditional Qigong methods, Flying Phoenix Qigong practice requires NO VISUALIZATION(S) whatsoever. Only the combination of the utterly ingenious and unfathomable Flying Phoenix breathwork—i.e., an esoteric breath-control formula performed at the start of each FP meditation—coupled to each meditation’s natural posture and movements activates the body’s self-healing faculties to impart a wide variety of tangible, visible, repeatable, and verifiable health benefits. Thus the most commonly heard remark made by beginners after two hours of FP Qigong practice is: “I cannot believe that a human being could have created this art.”
PROOF OF THE FLYING PHOENIX PUDDING is this lively worldwide discussion thread started in December 2009 on the Daobums.com blogsite by a very enthused DVD customer in Orlando, FL, who asked Terry Dunn to join the forum a few months later. Now in its fourteenth year, Sifu Dunn has been answering all posted questions on a weekly basis since he joined. As of the date of this newsletter, the Flying Phoenix Chi Kung thread has exactly 5,800 replies and 882,896 views…and hundreds of candid testimonials about the health, fitness, and spiritual benefits of FP Qigong practice.

P.S. Please pour yourself a cup of tea, sit down, and watch this recent Youtube video in which I demonstrate one round each of 12 of the 24 seated Flying Phoenix Qigong meditations collectively called “Monk Serves Wine.” Standard practice is to perform each meditation’s choreography 7 times. At 16:10 on time code, I demonstrate one of “Feng Dao Deh’s 10 San Gung Meditations”—a very rare and high-level practice of the Bok Fu Pai system. Then scenes of Flying Phoenix standing meditation practice from past workshops is seen starting at 26:00. At 30:00 is a view of one of the fifty-four powerful exercises from the Qigong system known as “10,000 Buddhas Ascend to Heaven”:
FP Qigong Practitioners in their 50’s, 60’s and 70’s have reported that their hair color changed from grey to its original color when once they started practicing the FP Qigong seated meditations known as “Monk Serves Wine” taught in Volume 7 of my DVD series. Another interesting physical indication that Flying Phoenix Qigong improves health holistically is the very noticeable —and initially very surprising—accelerated growth of toenails and fingernails.
Although Flying Phoenix Qigong is a purely healing or medical system of Qigong, and Tai Chi Chuan is first and foremost a martial art, FP Qigong practice is entirely compatible with Tai Chi Chuan practice as it promotes deep physical relaxation, develops natural body mechanics, awareness and control of the body’s subtle energy flows, and deep jhanic absorption. The core “Xing” or shape-form of the body utilized throughout Flying Phoenix Qigong is called “Monk Gazing At the Moon”, which is nuanced variation of the Wu-chi posture done with a uniquely different breathing formula. The two most advanced Flying Phoenix exercises are moving meditations that are practiced three times slower than typical Tai Chi form speed.
Flying Phoenix Qigong is easier to learn and practice than Tai Chi and its health benefits are tangible, profound, and fast-setting.
Most astonishing and revelatory for beginners is the common Flying Phoenix Qi phenomenon where the tangibly energizing and rejuvenating effects experienced during a practice session set on again several hours later in an unexpected total-body Qi-envelopment of the most pleasant and sublimely healing nature. For case and point: see Youtube video titled, “Rori Kanter describes dramatic pain relief after her first class in Flying Phoenix Healing Qigong.”
